Talk about old trends making a comeback....the plimsoll shoe would have to be one of my favorites.
The sand shoe, which was developed as beachwear in the 1830s by the Liverpool Rubber Company, were later dubbed the plimsoll because the colored horizontal band joining the upper to the sole resembled that of the Plimsoll line on a ship's hull; like the ship if water got above the line of the rubber sole, the wearer would get wet. (lol)
Today plimsolls can be found in many colors and styles and are being reproduced by many of the top designers to date. Keds is a well known maker of the plimsoll.
These shoes can be paired with denim, a tee and a cardigan for a cool classic look.
